| Dear Practice, You may be aware that University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay (UHMB) do not have a vitreo-retinal specialist. In order that patients are seen in a time appropriate manner, some VR referrals (urgent / non-routine, but not emergency) will need to be sent to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals (LTHTR), or the VR provider chosen by the patient directly in order to avoid delay and potential less favourable outcomes. Medical retina (diabetic, venous occlusion and other such presentations) and emergency referrals should still be referred to UHMB if that is the patient’s chosen provider. To refer to LTHTR, please select “Chorley and South Ribble Hospital – LTH NHS FT-Vitreoretinal, either urgent or routine as per the below screenshot. |

| Please see attached guidance provided by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals (LTHTR) for more detail relating to this. Please note that patients with a Preston, Chorley and South Ribble, West Lancs, Blackpool or Fylde and Wyre GP should be referred to their respective referral management centres, as is current practice. Thank you for your co-operation, Primary Eyecare Services |
