
NHL Eyecare is an independent eyecare service based alongside an established community pharmacy and wider healthcare services in Preston. We are recruiting two people to help build the next stage of the practice.
Optical Practice Manager / Dispensing Optician Manager
Experienced Optical Assistant / Practice Manager candidates also considered. Optometrist Practice Manager / Clinical Lead
applicants are also welcome.
Salary: £30,000-£38,000 depending on experience and qualification + performance-related bonus
We are looking for a proactive optical professional who wants to take ownership of an independent eyecare practice, develop the team, improve patient access and help grow a high-quality and commercially sustainable service.
Key responsibilities
· Lead the day-to-day operation and development of NHL Eyecare.
· Own clinic bookings, utilisation, confirmations, DNAs, recalls, referrals and patient follow-up.
· Oversee GOS, MECS and other applicable optical administration and claims tracking.
· Support dispensing, frame/lens advice, collections, repairs and aftercare within competence.
· Improve patient experience, ethical sales conversion, quote follow-up and average transaction value.
· Maintain stock, equipment, asset and system controls, with issues escalated promptly.
· Lead and develop optical support staff/apprentices; build local referral, outreach and marketing activity.
· Provide a concise weekly KPI update covering clinics, sales, claims, patients, risks, opportunities and actions.
Who we are looking for
· GOC-registered Dispensing Optician desirable; strong experienced Practice Manager / Optical Assistant candidates also considered.
· Patient-focused, organised, commercially aware and confident taking responsibility.
· Able to identify problems, propose solutions and follow actions through without repeated chasing.
· Interested in building and improving a practice rather than simply maintaining the status quo.
Optometrist applicants: We are open to a tailored Practice Manager / Clinical Lead role, with salary and clinical/management split agreed according to experience and clinic commitment.
