The LOC has had a casual vacancy which we were unable to fill at the 2026 AGM elections. As per the constitution, the LOC committee can co-opt a member to fill a casual vacancy without a constituent vote.
We have been looking for greater representation from younger professionals especially those practicing in Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and I am pleased to announce that Samuel Peters, an optometrist practicing in St Annes expressed an interest and was duly co-opted at the June 2026 committee meeting.

We asked him why he was inspired to step up and join the committee:
I’m very happy to have joined the LOC and look forward to supporting optometry. I hope to aid in the procurement and development of eye care schemes which allow us to deliver the best possible care to our patients.
The casual vacancy will end at the April 2027 AGM, at which time a formal election will take place when 1/3 of the committee steps down.
