For practices that provide the Glaucoma Enhanced Referral Services (GERS).
We have been asked for forward an invitation to your optometrists to join the local Managed Clinical Network for Glaucoma.
A Managed Clinical Network (MCN) is a structured group of health professionals that collaborate to improve patient care by focusing on specific conditions or services. Meetings are designed to break down organisational and professional barriers, to promote equitable, high-quality, and effective care for patients.
The Lancashire and South Cumbria Glaucoma MCN will be a place to present and discuss cases, to ask questions to specialist glaucoma clinicians, to learn about the glaucoma care pathway, and help us all develop our practice for the benefit of patients.
The plan is to start with a small groups of community optometrists and their local hospital colleagues. We’ve held one meeting for the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals area already and now we’re we’d like to run a session for the UHMB / Morecambe Bay area.
What it is:
- Online, approx. quarterly, for about 60-90 minutes
- A collaborative space to discuss and develop glaucoma care
- Relatively informal but with a chairperson to maintain quality of discussion.
What it isn’t:
- Formal lectures on glaucoma (although attendees are welcome to present slides)
- An advice and guidance service
- GERS service performance management
Note: Optometrists who attend will be able to record attendance at the MCN as part of self-directed CPD on the GOC PDP.
To register interest, please ask each optometrist to complete this online form:
