SENT ON BEHALF OF TOM MACKLEY – CHAIR OF THE LOCAL EYE HEALTH NETWORK
Dear Optical Colleagues,
The Lancashire County Council Sensory Impairment Team would like to raise awareness of their support services with all optical practices and practitioners. These statutory services can do a great deal to aid rehabilitation for people who are suffering sight or hearing loss.
Currently, the LCC team finds that referrals come regularly from voluntary sector and hospital sight loss / hearing loss services, but rarely from optical practices.
Please see the information and referral forms linked below. We would like to encourage more referrals from the optical sector so that the Sensory Impairment team can offer your patients support when it is needed, avoiding the adverse health outcomes that can be associated with sight and hearing loss.

(Please note that LCC doesn’t cover Blackburn or Blackpool who have their own unitary authorities and therefore separate provision)
Best Wishes,
Tom Mackley
