NHS England are looking for best practice examples and ideas as part of the rapid review into bureaucracy across the NHS, which was launched in October by the Secretary of State for Health and Care, Wes Streeting, and NHS England Chief Executive, Amanda Pritchard.
The ‘Red Tape Challenge’ builds on and accelerates existing activity to improve the interface between primary and secondary care, such as how referrals are made and managed, patient discharge and how different parts of the health service communicate with each other.
NHS England wants to hear from a range of stakeholders, including optometry, on what’s working well, what’s working less well and what tangible actions could help improve bureaucracy and reduce unnecessary workload for teams. Feedback will be used to implement immediate, operational improvements – with information around longer-term, transformational change fed into wider engagement as part of the 10 Year Health Plan.
Please complete this short survey or share feedback and send examples of good practice to: england.redtapechallenge2024@nhs.net by 16 December 2024.
