Practices who see patients registered with a GP in Greater Manchester please be aware of the following information.
There is a Pre-Cataract Service – Available for patients registered with a GP in the below localities,
- Bolton
- Bury
- Manchester
- Oldham
- Salford
- Stockport
- Tameside
- Trafford
- Wigan
Any patients referred in on a GOS18 will be triaged back out for a pre cat or other appropriate service if required.
All routine and urgent GOS18 referrals are triaged
– routine ones go to patient choice
– pre cat assessments aren’t triaged but also are given patient choice
The patient will then receive a text message to choose a provider.
If it is a Directly Bookable Service/request endpoint that the referral is sent to, the patient will get a letter in the post and / or a SMS message with a link to book their appointment. Once they follow the steps in the letter or SMS and book their clinic appointment then the referral will pass through to the provider.
If the patient doesn’t follow those steps and book their appointment, then nothing will happen and the referral will not passthrough to the hospital.
You can find the letter under referral letters on opera and print it out for the patient if you prefer.
For further information about cross border referrals please see the relevant LOC website, a list of which can be found here https://lmbloc.co.uk/referrals
