I am contacting you as one of the Professional Standards Group (PSG) Chairs in NHS England North-West. We are aware that performers are under a great deal of stress and have a large number of professional responsibilities which are not always easy to keep track of. This is particularly exacerbated when there are allegations of a performance concern.
I would like to take this opportunity to provide a polite reminder to your members that they inform us of any performance concerns, allegations made against them or any referrals to the GOC. They can do this by emailing us using england.northwestprofessionalstandards@nhs.net.
I understand that this will be stressful for performers, but it will ensure that they do not inadvertently breach the Performers List Regulations which could lead to Performers List action being taken unnecessarily against them. Crucially, this will also enable us to provide support to the performer and we will be able to guide them through the process.
We are always striving to work with performers to assist them in becoming better practitioners and I hope that this will alleviate any fears performers may have about contacting us.
